Lettings

Usually, the average tenancy in London is around 20 months for long lets and of course less, for short tenancy. So, over the course of years, tenants will come in and out of your letting property. And when they come in, each expects to see a well-maintained and pristine property.

However, over the course of the tenancy, the pristine condition of the property may not be maintained especially when the tenants are not able to maintain the cleanliness of the property.

Who cleans the property?

Tenants are responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of the property throughout the duration of their tenancy. Some tenants may lack hygiene and respect for the property while others uphold cleanliness to the property. At the end of tenancy, tenants are responsible for making sure the property is reinstated to its original condition. To do this, it is usually advised that tenants should hire cleaning professionals at the end of a tenancy.

Cleaning Checklist for your letting property

  • All wooden furniture should be wiped down

How much does the end of tenancy cleaning cost in London?

London One Bedroom Property: £120 to £180

London Two-Bedroom Property: £130 to £240

London Three-Bedroom Property: £170 to £280

London Four-Bedroom Property: £200 to £300

The tenancy agreement allows landlords to deduct the cost of end of tenancy cleaning from the tenant’s deposit.

Why cleaning at the end of a tenancy is important?

When a property was neglected or not maintained properly by the tenants, over time it might cause greater damage to the property. The lack of care for the property will eventually show on the overall condition of the property.

Thus, it is important to have a high standard of cleanliness to make sure that the property is well maintained and of course to keep the marketability of the property.
