Lifestyle

Moving house can be overwhelming and stressful. And it part of it has something to do with packing up your entire home with you.

When you are ready to buy a new house, starting early when it comes to packing and preparation will help you stay on the right track throughout the process. This will also give you plenty of time to correct and adjust the things that you need to pack for your new house.

Ideally, you should be packing your things as organized as possible.

Getting Rid of Items

It is important to also get rid of the items that you no longer need. Determine which items to sell and to give away.

Know Your Packing Priorities

So let’s start by establishing your priorities. What are the packing priorities that you should establish when packing for a move? Identify your immediate needs, regular needs, and long-term storage items.

1. Immediate Needs

These are the items or things that you need on hand throughout your entire move.

2.     Regular Needs

These are items that not emergency items such as electronic devices, furniture, and your clothes.

3.     Long-Term Storage

These items are rarely used. For example, Christmas lights, collections, board games, etc. So these items can be stored for a long term without anyone missing them.

When you have established your priorities, you can start packing the long-term storage items even months before your move. You can start packing “regular” items weeks before your move. While your immediate needs can be packed 1 to 3 days before you’re moving.

Make sure that you use sturdy storage boxes or containers and have them labeled clearly. Also make sure to include your essentials for yourself such as your wallet, cash, cards, ID’s, keys, etc. Your medications, toiletries and hygiene kits, charges and other devices, clothes for a week, and your first aid kid.
