A smell can be a funny thing. Some people when they smell something it reminds them of a memory or a place. For many, fresh-cut grass takes them back to the summers of playing in the backyard.

When you spend too much time in your home, you get accustomed to the way it smells. But every now and then, maybe you’ll smell something not pleasant, and you may start to worry if your home smells bad.

The truth is that your home has a good smell and bad smell days. However, the latter should not be your goal. And who doesn’t want their home to smell good anyway?

Here are some simple ways to make your home smell good.

1. Keep the areas clean

Keeping your home clean is one of the simple ways to make your home smell good. Make your house clean by maintaining a clean house. You’re probably keeping your home clean but you might forget the areas that don’t get as much use such as nooks, guest bedrooms, and basements.

2. Clean the Carpet

Another way to keep your home clean is by cleaning the carpet because carpet can trap odors that linger in your home indefinitely. Especially when you have pets that make the carpet their bathroom.

So, when vacuuming your carpet, you may try to sprinkle baking soda on your carpet and let it sit for an hour or two.

In situations where the carpet has gone old over time and the fibers start to break down and the carpet begins to smell old, there is little that can be done.

3. Use Air Fresheners in Vents

Air fresheners are an excellent weapon against bad smells. You can keep your home smell better by putting fresheners on the outside vents of your home. These are the strong and fast ways to bring some lovely fragrances into your home. And do not forget to air your house out regularly.

4. Check your fridge

Your fridge can get funky at times. It’s important to check the products inside your fridge and use up anything that’s about to go off. Organize your fridge and wipe the shelves before placing back any food in the fridge.

5. Cotton balls with scented oil or cologne

Cotton balls soaked in your favorite scented oil and tuck them around the house such as between cushions, behind furniture, and in AC panel.

6. Open up Windows

Whenever the weather or the time allows, open up some windows in your home and let a breeze blow through. This allows to let the good air in. It can help the rooms smell clean.

When it comes to our homes, if a space smells fresh, that is a great sign.
